24.05.2023 Report on NEBA’s Governing Council Meeting
24.05.2023

NEBA’s first Governing Council Meeting took place on Monday, May 22nd, 2023 at 18.30 via ZOOM video conferencing, and was chaired by the President of NEBA’s Governing Council, Una Brūna. Eight of 12 Governing Council members participated representing England, Scotland, Latvia, Finland, Canada and Georgia. Sector leaders including sports tourism, medical tourism and business & trade development were also well represented.

As this was the first meeting of the Governing Council, proceedings were relatively informal starting with introductions since most members had not met others. It was quickly determined that everyone had business interests in common. The main topics that came up included renewable energy, sports, healthcare and market entry opportunities.

The importance of developing good working relationships with individual country development agencies and embassies was quickly recognized and should be given a high priority.

Members were encouraged to forward suggestions to U. Brūna, and individual contact with will now be undertaken.

We thank all for their support of this initiative. This is only the start.

NEBA’s Governing Council (NGC) serves as an advisory body to the NEBA Executive Board (NEB). The NGC will advise on business development matters and approaches, policies, procedures, and plans which underpin the high-level strategy. The NEBA Executive Board is responsible for the implementation of these components as well as the management of day-to-day operations.

NGC members are invited by the Board based on their international experience in similar organisations, and who have strong business knowledge and experience across a number of industrial and market segments. NGC members are expected to be in a position to contribute to NEBA’s development to help achieve the goals and vision set out in NEBA’s high level strategy (https://neba-network.eu/mission).

NGC members are authorised to present NEBA in their region and to their associates internationally, and may also represent NEBA in discussions relating to prospective business cooperation.
